“ Button Up Cafe is a small place in Pearl City. The cafe has a small parking lot and it seems to be a good place to get breakfast & lunch for takeout. They do have about 7 small tables to sit inside. No A/C, but plenty of fans to help keep you cool. My wife and I shared a Corned Beef Loco Moco. I asked for my eggs to be soft poached. Wow...so good! I appreciated that this was freshly made vs canned corned beef. Savory, smoky, and griddled to add that back. I am so glad I got this. Come check them out! Support local. ”
“ (9/2023): Hole-in-the-wall breakfast cafe that was full on a Thursday morning. Limited seating, but welcoming, friendly service. They only had bottled water available, but we were welcome to bring in our own beverages. We ordered the kalua pork loco moco, the spinach & mushroom omelette, and the stuffed strawberry cheesecake french toast. So good! The omelette came with a generous side of tater tots, and the strawberry cheesecake french toast piled high with whipped cream! Overall, a hearty delicious breakfast with generous portion sizes! ”
“ After a failed McDonald's drive thru experience, we pulled up Yelp and saw some great reviews for this place and decided we needed to try for ourselves. We arrived just before open and were the first seated. The dining area is small, but you can tell it's popular based on how quickly it filled up. We ordered the Short Rib Loco Moco, Short Rib Eggs Benny, and Nutella/cheesecake French toast. HOLY COW! The portion sizes were HUGE. I think the French toast was as big as my son's head! The short rib was SO flavorful and tender. We experienced a small hiccup while there. The card reader system had gone down. The staff still provided us with food and just asked us to get cash to pay. They were kind and quick! Definitely check out this hidden gem! ”
“ When I come to Button Up cafe I don't want to be buttoning up anything, rather, unbuttoning my pants cus my belly be full of goodness! I don't even want to write a review about this place because I don't want it to get too crowded! I'll put my selfishness aside and write one, though, because this has to be the BEST place on Oahu to get great, quality food! Button Up Cafe looks to be a locally owned family restaurant and from the quality you can definitely tell a lot of heart goes into every dish that is served. The Korean braised ribs eggs Benny was TO DIE FOR! The marinade was so flavorful and the meat fell right off the bone! Who knew the egg and braised rib combo would be such a hit? Such a creative and delicious dish! We simultaneously ate this with the Ube Cheesecake Toast which was also another banger! I don't have any major cons for this place, but please take note that they do close early (8am to 1:30pm!) There is minimal seating so many patrons do opt for takeout but we only had a short wait and dined inside. By the time we arrived they were already sold out of the Thai tea and Thai coffee so we got sodas instead. If you do opt for their regular coffee, it comes from an old percolator pot, like the kind you see in an office. 10/10 definitely recommend Button Up cafe and I can't wait to go back! ”
